Therapy should not be a mystery, it should be a mutually agreed upon and clear process. There are three primary ways that help people change: as the result of novel experiences, as the result of education, and as the result of viewing their situation differently. Dr. Polansky utilizes each of these methods for initiating change in her practice.
Dr. Joan Polansky is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Arizona Psychological Association
Dr. Polansky provides psychotherapy and assessment for individuals and couples college age and older. The modalities she employs include cognitive therapy, interpersonal therapy, behavioral techniques, relaxation, imagery, and hypnosis. Her specific treatment depends upon the particular needs of the client. Making lasting changes can take time and definitely involves effort on the part of the client. If you are willing to change, then change can happen.
Psychotherapy may require discussing unpleasant aspects of the client's life. However, the benefits of psychotherapy often include a significant reduction in feelings of distress, an increase in clarity, better relationships, and resolutions to specific problems.
Dr. Polansky is an LGBTQ-friendly provider.
Please note: Dr. Polansky is not accepting new MEDICARE patients.
